ISLAMABAD: The capital administration here on Thursday served final show cause notices to 10 candidates of the National Assembly from capital’s three constituencies for violating election’s code of conduct, sources told Dawn.

The candidates violated the sizes of posters, banners and portraits fixed by the ECP. Besides, they also violated ban on billboards, wall chalking and hoardings.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan were among those who served the final notices, the officials said.

The other violators of the code of conduct were PPP candidate Afzal Khokar in NA-52, PTI candidate Raja Khurram Nawaz in NA-52, PML candidate Tariq Fazal Chaudhary in NA-52, PPP candidate Syed Sibtul Hasan Shah in NA-53, APML candidate Dr Mohammad Amjad in NA-53, PPP candidate Imran Ashraf in NA-54, PTI candidate Asad Umer in NA-54 and MMA candidate Mian Aslam in NA53 and 54.

The notification said: “Through a show cause notice served on you on July 7, you were intimated violation carried out at your end, which are liable to be proceeded against under section 234 of the Election Act.

“You were directed through above said show cause notice that all the violations may immediately be removed and a written reply/compliance report be submitted within 24 hours,” it added.

“So far, neither any violation has been removed nor any reply has been received by this office in this matter,” it stated, adding “hence you are issued a final notice to comply with the code of conduct failing which your case may be forwarded to Election Commission of Pakistan for taking action under section 234(3) of the Election Act 2017.
