PML-N and PTI are going head-to-head for the four National Assembly and nine provincial legislature seats in Kasur by awarding tickets to old, trusted hands, prioritising 'electability' over qualities like integrity and loyalty.

Given the district’s history of biradari and factional politics, political analysts say that national issues and party manifestos have never had any impact on electioneering and results in Kasur.

This has resulted in many candidates revolting by running as independents against their own party’s nominees.
