NOWSHERA: Jamaat-i-Islami has expelled its district chief Haji Anwarul Islam on charges of disobeying party’s decision and supporting candidates of PTI.

According to sources, the JI provincial chief expelled Anwarul Islam for violating party discipline and extending support to PTI candidates instead of MMA contenders.

They said that differences between the party leadership and Anwarul Islam surfaced after ticket for PK-65 was awarded to Eng Tariq Khattak, who recently joined JUI-F after parting ways with ANP. They said that Anwarul Islam wanted that the ticket should be awarded to Jawad Ali Seena of JI. However, the ticket was awarded to JUI-F member owing to which Jawad Ali also revolted against the party.

Meanwhile, drug inspectors sealed six medical stores and issued show-cause notices to 12 others during crackdown on illegal medical stores in the district.
