LAHORE, June 2: Samiullah and Tariq Yamin missed national junior hockey training camp while remaining 13 probables reported at the National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. The camp has been set up to prepare and finalise Pakistan team for the Junior World Cup to be held in the Netherlands from June 30 to July 10.

Twelve players of the camp are in Malaysia, taking part in the ongoing Azlan Shah Cup tournament. They will join the camp on June 10.

Assistant coach Khawaja Junaid said that Samiullah was looking after his ailing mother in Karachi, while Tariq had injury problems. He added Samiullah would join the camp in couple of days. However, Tariq’s availability depended on his medical report which is expected in a couple of days.

Junaid said that it would help players to be physically fit when asked what benefit could be achieved having only 13 players in the camp.

He said that team would leave for Belgium on June 20 where it would play a match each against South Africa and Argentina.

“We are not playing against Belgium because they are in the same pool in which Pakistan is placed,” Junaid said.

The team will travel to the Netherlands from Belgium.
