SHEIKHPURA: Flouting the restrictions imposed by the district administration on holding of any public meeting at Ghalla Mandi, Nankana Sahib, over security concerns, former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif reached the venue and addressed the workers convention late on Monday.

He urged the workers to reach Lahore airport at 4pm on July 13 to receive PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam.

Terming Imran Khan the biggest liar of the world, Shahbaz posed a question if the PTI chief could not bring about any prosperity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the tenure of his party government, how he would develop the entire country.

The former CM said if the PML-N came into power, he would not hesitate to provide maximum facilities to Nankana Sahib, including Baba Guru Nanak University which would be completed within a year. He also announced launching a housing scheme in the city where homeless people would be provided homes on easy installments. The rent of lands under the evacuee board would be decreased according to the wishes of tenants, he made a pledge.

A rousing welcome was extended to Shahbaz on his arrival at the venue.

Nankana Deputy Commissioner Raja Mansoor didn’t allow the PML-N to hold a meeting in the grain market. But the PML-N president didn’t follow the instructions and opted to attend the workers convention.
