PESHAWAR, June 1: Provincial Minister for Agriculture Qari Mahmood has said the government is trying to help farmers get their due share in the production process. He was addressing a seminar arranged by Fauji Fertilizer Company in Swat in which more than 200 farmers of Swat and Dir districts participated.

The minister said they would ensure the farmer got good return on his produce.

He also urged them to use the information being provided to them at the seminar for increasing yields and the quality of their produce.

Senior Sales Manager of the FFC, Zia Mehmood Minhas, told the participants of the seminar that the company was trying to educate farmers in the far-flung areas like Swat.

The DCO of Swat, Shah Hussain Afridi, appreciated the efforts put in by the company in educating the farmers of the area.

He also appreciated quality of fertilizers of the company and requested it to provide agriculture related brochures and booklets to the farmers of the province free of cost.

Vice Chancellor of Malakand University, Jehandar Shah, highlighted role of pest control in orchards. He emphasized the role of friendly insects and birds in controlling pest in orchards.

Senior Marketing Manager of FFC, Asad Sultan Chaudhary, said the company had established five soil and water testing laboratories for free testing of the farmers’ fields.—PPI
