Two PML-N aspirants who were not issued tickets by the party for next month's general elections have accused the party leadership of resorting to corrupt practices and ignoring merit.

Babu Sarfaraz Jatoi, who previously remained the PML-N Sindh president, has accused the party's provincial leadership of demanding Rs3 million from him in exchange for a party ticket. He claims he wasn't issued a ticket for NA-201 Larkana after he refused to pay the amount.

From Islamabad's NA-54 arose another heartbroken PML-N worker, Hafeezur Rehman Tipu, who claimed that he deserved to be awarded the ticket and also had his community's support, but "the party has turned merit into demerit".

"Instead of honouring the vote, my party has honoured the note (money)," the disgruntled PML-N worker alleged.

Tipu has now announced he will the contest the election independently.
