ISLAMABAD, May 31: Former secretary, defence production, Air Marshal (retired) Zahid Anis died here late on Monday night after brief illness. He was 57. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

Air Marshal Zahid Anis was laid to rest at the Islamabad Graveyard on Tuesday. His funeral was attended by federal Defence Minister Rao Sikandar Iqbal, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Shahid Karimullah, Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat, parliamentarians, retired services’ chiefs and a large number of civil and military officers.

Floral wreath was laid on his grave on behalf of President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Air Marshal Zahid Anis served in Pakistan Air Force from Jan 1967 to November 2000. He held key command and staff appointments during his career.

He served as Secretary Defence Production from March, 2001 to February, 2005.

Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat has expressed his condolences on the death of Air Marshal Zahid Anis.
