HYDERABAD, May 31: Police raided the house of HRCP activist and PPP leader Jam Saqi in Naseem Naggar on Tuesday for what they said recording his statement. A police contingent from Qasimabad, Fighter Squad, Madadgar and Market police surrounded the house of Mr Saqi, giving rise to panic in the area.

The family of Mr Saqi described it as a new method of harassment.

Around 20 policemen are said to have searched the house for Mr Saqi, who was not there at the time.

When police were asked to produce a search warrant, they did not do so, a family member told Dawn by telephone.

Police claimed that they had gone to the house for recording statement of Mr Saqi in the case in which he had been detained, interrogated and released on Monday.
