POLITICAL analysts foresee no major change in the aftermath of the July 25 election. Probably no political party will be in a position to form government at the Centre and the provinces. Thus the party with the highest number of seats will have to ‘buy’ independent MNAs and strike deals with other parties to form coalition governments
One hopes that these coalition governments will promote national interests and national unity. Their first priority should be ‘across the board top to bottom’ accountability which should focus on the following:
Recovering ill-gotten money regardless of position and status; locating and returning Pakistan’s wealth stashed in foreign banks; eradicating corruption in all its forms; deweaponise society; and controlling prices.
