PESHAWAR: Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has condoled the death of deputy auditor general of Pakistan (defense) Ms Hashmat Iqbal and hailed her services for the country in general and for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular.

The governor visited her residence at Shami Road and offered fateha for the departed soul. He prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and provide courage to her family to bear this loss. Ms Hashmat Iqbal, who was the first female accountant general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was suffering from cancer and expired at a hospital in Islamabad on June 17. She was wife of a former deputy attorney general Mohammad Iqbal Mohmand.

Mr Jhagra stayed with the family for some time and said that the deceased was a competent person who had worked on different important posts. People from different walks of life have expressed sorrow and grief over her death. Caretaker Chief Minister retired Justice Dost Mohammad Khan, Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, auditor general for Pakistan Jawed Jahangir, government functionaries and a number of lawyers have also visited the family to condole her death.
