KARACHI: A religious figure was shot dead allegedly by another cleric in the Sohrab Goth area of the city on Wednesday night, police said.

They said that Qari Abdul Hafeez, 42, was shot dead inside a house in the Jannat Gul Town near Al-Asif Square.

The suspect, identified as Qari Imam Din, managed to escape from the crime scene.

The police said the victim had come to Karachi from Afghanistan about a month ago for treatment of his son, Lal Mohammad.
