MULTAN, May 30: The Pakistan Seraiki Party took out a demonstration here on Monday demanding a separate allocation of funds in the federal budget for Seraiki region. A protest camp was also set up at the Kutchery Chowk. Prominent among the participants were PSP Chairman Taj Muhammad Langah, Secretary-General Mansoor Karim Siyal, Hasan Raza Bokhari, Asadullah Langah, Hakeem Haider Iqbal and Liaquat Ali Kamboh.

The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with their demands and chanting slogans against what they described as chauvinistic attitude of the present Punjab government.

The protesters were also demanding a separate province, comprising Seraiki speaking areas of the country, availability of irrigation water and jobs’ quota for Seraiki youth at federal and provincial levels.

Speaking on the occasion, the PSP secretary-general claimed that protest demonstrations were organized simultaneously in 18 Seraiki speaking districts of the country.

The protesters also demanded improvement in communication, health, education and tourism infrastructure in the Seraiki belt. They also pressed for the rehabilitation and conservation of monumental sites of the area.
