LAHORE: A big contingent of 397 members will represent the country in the 18th Asian Games to be held in Jakarata from Aug 18 to Sept 2, the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) announced after a meeting to finalise the contingent here at the Olympic House on Wednesday.

Pakistan will compete in the following 36 sports, including eight which are not affiliated with the POA, including archery, athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball (3x3), boxing, bridge, equestrian, fencing, football, golf, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Ju-Jitsu, kabaddi, karate, kurash, paragliding, pencak silat, rowing, rugby, sailing, sepaktakraw, shooting, soft tennis, sport climbing, squash, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, wushu.

The eight sports — fencing, bridge, kurash, paragliding, pencak silat, sepaktakraw, soft tennis and sport climbing — which are not affiliated with the POA will meet their own expenses at the Games.

The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) will bear the expense of 300 men and women athletes and officials while 97 athletes and officials will bear their own expenses.

The training camps for all the sports will be set up in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi from June 20.
