PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has exercised its powers under its extended jurisdiction to Mohmand region as the first step towards implementation of merger of Fata with the province, according to sources.

They said that government employees appointed in various departments in Fata were not entitled to transfer to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and both the spouse policy and district cadre policy were not applicable to them under the KP transfer/posting policy for Fata.

Sources said that in a recent case, lady health visitor Farhana Yasmeen, working in Mohmand region, approached Peshawar High Court for her transfer to the provincial capital. She has become the first person to be transferred from Mohmand to the provincial capital.

Source said that in the aftermath of the Fata merger with the province, she was an employee of the director general health office and health department and erstwhile tribal agencies were then provincial government districts.

“In the exercise of jurisdiction granted by the 31st Amendment over the service matters of employees erstwhile Fata, who are now employees of provincial government with the same status, the application/petition of Farhana Yasmeen, LHV, is hereby accepted and she is hereby posted at the disposal of district health officer Peshawar from Mohmand with immediate effect,” said a health department order.
