ON May 25, my Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) phone (061-6303332) went out of order for maintenance, suspending the Internet and smart TV as well. I lodged a complaint through my cellphone at about 1.45pm. The complaint reference number was 70.

Since then I have not heard anything from the PTCL except a regular automated call to tell me that according to the PTCL record my problem has been solved. Annoyed and disturbed, on May 30 I again made a complaint from a friend’s home on the PTCL website which assured me that they would get back to me within 24 hours.

The only difference this new complaint made was that I started getting two automated calls a day — one from 1218 and the other from a new number 051-2069017.

Both calls stated that according to their record, the issue had been resolved.

This is like adding insult to injury. Will Pakistan Telecommunication Authority take any action against this — planned bullying by a phone company? Let alone the suspension of services, will any authority question the PTCL if it has taken any action against the person who falsely updated their record?
