PESHAWAR, May 28: Police on Friday arrested three men who shot a Peshawar University professor in the leg and stomach following a failed attempt to break into his house. A 30-bore rifle was recovered from the men. Two of those detained were sons of two employees of Peshawar University and residents of Lalazar Colony. The men, identified as Jan Mohammad, Abid and Nihar Mohammad, had gone to Professor Sabir Kalorvi’s home with the intention of burglary. Professor Sabir, a lecturer in the Urdu Department of Peshawar University, received gun-shot wounds during the attempted break-in.

Police officials said they had registered an FIR against the burglars under Sections 324 and 458 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
