KARACHI, May 27: Shakaib Ahmed, a promising right-arm paceman, produced a stunning performance by grabbing nine for 30 as Zone-III Whites defeated Zone-I Greens by 130 runs in the KCCA Under-19 Inter-zonal cricket championship tie at the Student Ground on Thursday. Shakaib bowled 13.3 overs with three maiden as Zone-I Greens were bundled out for only 84 runs in the 28th over while chasing a target of 221.

Earlier, Zone-III Whites made 220 in 49.1 overs. Rameez Raja struck six fours and one six in scoring 51 with good support from Imran Bashir (38) and Asad Ruksar (35).

Leg-spinner Majid Rizvi captured five for 82.

In another match, played at the TMC Ground, Zone-II Whites easily beat Zone-VII Blues by 180 runs.

Faraz Feroze hit seven boundaries in making 85 to help Zone-II Whites reach 274 for nine in 50 overs. Off-spinner Sultan Mansuri claimed seven for 100.

Zone-VII Blues mustered 94 in 31.3 overs. The main damage was done by Kamran Hussain who took five for 35.

Meanwhile, Zone-V Whites and Zone-IV Whites won their respective matches on Wednesday. Zone-V Whites beat Zone-VI Blues by three wickets at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground while Zone-IV Whites scored a 28-run victory over Zone-I Blues at the Pak Star Ground.

ZONE-IV WHITES 198 in 49.2 overs (Aamir Shah 39, Imran Ali Khan 30, Imran Haider 30, Salman Ahmed 29; Tajuddin 4-23, Hasan Abbas 4-50); ZONE-I BLUES 170 in 44.2 overs (Owais Asghar 48, Sunil Puran 24, Mohammad Maisam 20; Aamir Shah 4-73, Rahman Siddiqui 3-21).

Zone-V Whites beat Zone-VI Blues by three wickets.
