PESHAWAR, May 27: The Pakistan Army has constructed 1,015km of roads and tracks out of the planned 1,849km roads in Fata. According to an Inter-Services Public Relations press release issued here on Friday, the army has deployed two additional engineer battalions for development work in Waziristan to help improve living conditions of tribesmen.

The newly built roads in various agencies include, 151km in Mohmand, 115kms in Khyber, 151km in Kurrum, 123km in Orakzai, 204km in North and 271 km in South Waziristan, press statement added.

In the education sector, 28 schools of the 31 planned have been completed, including seven in Khyber, five in Kurrum, 11 in Orakzai, two in North and six in South Waziristan. Educated personnel of security forces have also been deputed to teach local children at makeshift schools established in the nearby localities.

In the health sector, the army constructed two BHUs and the Army Medical Corps provided treatment to 300,000 patients at their 99 free medical camps.

The army installed six of the 10 planned micro-hydel power stations on the Bara River tributaries in Khyber agency to provide electricity to the tribesmen.
