Asma moves justice of peace

LAHORE, May 27: Human Rights Commission of Pakistan chairperson Asma Jahangir has moved the justice of peace (the district and sessions judge) through a petition which seeks the registration of criminal cases against police officials who allegedly outraged her modesty.

Additional district and sessions judge Mian Khadim Husain is due to take up her petition on Saturday.

The petitioner alleged that the Gulberg police and later the SSP (Operations) rejected on May 16 and 17 the applications of the HRCP chairperson that an FIR should be registered against the police officials who maltreated her during a rally at the Main Boulevard, Gulberg, on May 14.
