According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended May 11, 2018, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs12,186.867 billion after a 0.43 per cent decrease over the preceding week’s figure of Rs12239.657 bn.

Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs11,179.265bn, the current week’s figure was higher by 9.01pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs12,119.091bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs12,178.720bn, showing a decline of 0.50pc. Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs67.776bn, lower by 11.22pc against previous week’s figure of Rs60.937bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,424.815bn, lower by 3.48pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs17,017.159bn. Current week’s figure is higher by 4.30pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs15,746.662bn.

Deposits fall by 0.43pc; total assets down by 3.48pc

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,174.479bn, lower by 3.60pc over previous week’s figure of Rs16,777.410bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs250.336bn were lower 4.42pc over the previous week’s Rs.239.749bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review. It fell by 21.50pc to Rs1,958.678bn against previous week’s Rs2,495.233bn. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs2,369.542bn, current week’s figure is lower by 17.34pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs1,866.425bn were lower by 22.35pc against previous week’s Rs2,403.766bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs92.253bn against the previous week’s figure of Rs91.466bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs7,088.174bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs7,764.268bn, lower by 8.70pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,856.580bn, current week’s figure is lower by 9.78pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs7,034.365bn, lower by 8.84pc against preceding week’s figure of Rs7,716.763bn, whereas investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs.53.809bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs47.505bn.
