KARACHI: Carjacker shot dead

KARACHI, May 26: Police shot dead an alleged carjacker while his accomplice managed to escape in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Thursday night. Police said two people were sitting in a car (AGB-105) near a restaurant in Gulshan-i-Iqbal near NIPA intersection. Two armed men overpowered them and tried to snatch the car from them.

Gulshan town police officer Aisf Aijaz said a constable Khalid Nawaz was posted at an Imambargah near the place of incident, who noticed the foul-play. As the armed men snatched the keys and sat in the car, he aimed at one of the carjackers and shot a bullet, which pierced through his body and he died on the spot. His accomplice fled in panic.

Mr Aijaz said a TT pistol and some papers were found from the deceased which suggested that his name was Mohammad Ayub, 45.

ACCIDENTS: Three persons died in two separate accidents in different parts of the city on Thursday. Two passengers died and 12 others were wounded when a coach over-turned in SITE on Thursday.
