LAHORE: The Punjab chief minister and opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly have scheduled a meeting on Wednesday (tomorrow) to finalise the caretaker set-up in the province.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had earlier desired that opposition leader Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed hold a meeting with Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Iqbal and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

However, Rasheed had refused to meet the two, saying it was the chief minister’s constitutional duty to consult the opposition leader and discuss matters related to the caretaker chief minister.

The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf is planning to pitch former bureaucrat Tariq Khosa as the opposition’s candidate for caretaker chief minister.
