(EDITORIAL) To make political capital of crime is disgraceful tactics, but some of our Satyagrahis seem inclined to trade on events for maligning the Muslim League. A local Congress organ commenting on the murder of Mr. Allah Buksh remarks that it is “strange that neither the President of the Muslim League nor those prominently connected with its executive have cared to come forward with public condemnation of his dastardly murder”. When the story of the dastardly murder was put out by the news-agencies it was specifically mentioned that the shooting of Mr. Allah Buksh was associated with private vendetta and that there was no political or communal significance in the event. Mr. Allah Buksh did not make any dying declarations himself and the matter is now in the hands of the police, but the Hindustan Times must have a dig at Mr. Jinnah and the League in respect of political motives for it writes as follows:
“It is true that Mr. Allah Bux could not accept Mr. Jinnah’s leadership and held very different views about the future of his community and the part which it should play in the national life of the country…”
Criticism of this kind is gratuitous and meaningless when it almost amounts to making the Muslim League and its President accessories after the event if not conniving promoters of the crime…. — Dawn Delhi
