ISLAMABAD, Jan 8: A US diplomat on Tuesday met Asif Ali Zardari at the premises of the accountability court after attending the hearings in the ARY Gold and SGS references.

Charles Davis, political affairs counsellor of the US embassy in Islamabad during his 45 minutes meeting with Mr Zardari exchanged views about the forthcoming general elections, his arrest in the BMW case after he was bailed out in other cases, said a close associate of Mr Zardari told Dawn.

He said that issues like treatment being meted out to Mr Zardari by the National Accountability Bureau and tension between India and Pakistan also came under discussion.

The former deputy speaker of the National Assembly, Zafar Ali Shah, former Sindh chief minister Qaim Ali Shah and former federal minister Jam Saifullah also met Mr Zardari.
