I AM surprised at the rancour and acrimony in Pakistani politics. Reportedly, NAB read/heard about the transfer of a huge amount of foreign exchange to India and its chairman ordered an inquiry into it.

The NAB chairman never pronounced a judgement nor did he express an opinion that this report was correct. So what wrong did he do? What is illegal about ordering an inquiry?

Recently, in a TV programme a participant was waxing eloquent against this order of inquiry by the NAB chairman as if a cardinal sin had been committed.

I think any action, even legitimate, by an official organisation these days becomes controversial, thanks to the political tilt of the media. Ordering inquiries is the job of NAB and FIA.
