KARACHI, May 24: An acute water shortage problem has been persisting in some parts of Lyari Town for the past two weeks causing unrest among the people in the affected areas who have warned of agitation if corrective steps are not taken for normal supply. The hard-hit areas included parts of Baghdadi, Shah Beg lane and Daryabad union council areas.

The situation is worst in Hingorabad, Edu Lane, Ali Mohammad Mohalla, Nawabad and Daryabad areas. Despite repeated claims of authorities, Ali Mohammad Mohalla could not have been connected with main supply line and a decade old water shortage problem has been persisting according to the residents.

Presently water tankers are the only source for drinking water.

Expressing concern over the indifferent attitude of the authorities concerned, the affected people threatened to resort to strike if normal water supply was not restored immediately.
