MANSEHRA: A transgender person was killed allegedly over a money dispute at a marriage function in Kotkay area here on Friday.

Kismat Khan, another transgender individual, who was also performing along with the victim in the function, told the police that Mohammad Riaz shot and killed Khuram Shahzad alias Muni when she refused to pay him a change for a Rs1,000 currency note, and then escaped.

Kismat said the accused first fired two bullets in the air and the third one in the head of his colleague. “We both are from Kehal area of Abbottabad and settled here on Badra road to earn a living from the dancing profession,” she said.

She said one Rizwan had invited them to perform in the wedding ceremony of his friend where the fatal accident happened.

Mohammad Shaukat, the police investigation officer, told reporters that the suspect was having criminal background as he had also killed his uncle some years back.

“We have lodged an FIR of the incident and the accused would soon be behind the bars,” he said.

Meanwhile, members of the transgender community blocked the main road to traffic demanding arrest of the killer.
