Two die, 18 hurt in road accidents

SWABI, Jan 8: Two people died and 18 others received serious injuries in three road accidents here during the past 24 hours.

Madathullah, a resident of the Karnel Sher village, was going to the Shawa Adda Bazaar on a motorcycle (PRK-5026) with his nephew when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding coach (LOK-3797) near a cigarette factory on Swabi-Mardan Road.

Madathullah, who got married on Sunday, died on the spot and his nephew received serious injuries. The injured was admitted to the district headquarters hospital in a critical condition.

Mohammad Aziz, a resident of the Shagai village, who was sitting on the roadside in front of his house, died when a bus ran over him after colliding with a Datsun pick-up.

Meanwhile, 16 people, including five students of a girls college, received injuries when their van collided with a coach near the Shah Mansoor area.

KILLED: In Yar Hussain, Qamash Gul clubbed his wife to death over a minor domestic dispute and escaped. His son lodged an FIR with the area police.

SHOT DEAD: Fazal Khaliq was shot dead by his rivals in the Shawa area. Police have registered an FIR against Mukamil, Abdul Wali and Muzammil.
