ADULTRATION in food has been going on for a long time. It not only diminishes the quality of food products, but affects consumers’ health.

Adulteration means adding anything to or subtracting anything from food, making it injurious to health.

Food adulteration, with a poisonous chemical like formalin, is widespread and is regularly applied to fish, fruit, meat and milk. This could cause different cancer, asthma and skin diseases, besides neurological impairment.

What is required is an authentic testing of food and adulterant detection. I urge the government to take serious action against the culprits.
