BADIN, May 22: The Minister of State for Agriculture, Mohammad Ali Malkani, said here on Sunday the company which had supplied sub-standard sunflower seeds to Pakistan had been black-listed and a case had been registered against it. Addressing a gathering here, the minister said the company was also being contacted through Pakistan embassy in Australia.

The company’s point of view was that the seed was used before it is matured. The minister said that the sunflower seeds were exported through fake documents. Growers have suffered huge losses due to sub-standard seed, he said adding that the federal government has asked the provincial government to provide relief to the affected growers in the payment of taxes.

He said agricultural package for growers of Badin and Thatta has been discussed with the president who had assured to look into the matter.

He said that the president and the prime minister would be requested for the waiver of agriculture loans to the small growers.—APP
