LAHORE: A meeting held to review “deployment of security personnel” following chief justice of Pakistan’s orders to curtail security provided to influential individuals remained inconclusive on Monday as officials “were not prepared”.

The meeting attended by top security officials was called by additional chief secretary (Home) and inspector-general of police was supposed to review the recommendations of the district, divisional and provincial intelligence committees with regard to security of such individuals.

The additional IGs of special branch and counter terrorism department (CTD), Intelligence Bureau (IB) director general, commissioners and regional police officers (RPOs) were asked to attend the meeting in person or through video link.

Some officials, who attended the meeting, said the district and divisional intelligence committees were supposed to review the threat perception against individuals and buildings, which was a time consuming task.

They said the officials concerned sought time to review threat perception and come up with solid recommendations.

The officials were told to curtail the “unnecessary” security to those facing threat and ensure that no official be sent for just protocol duty.
