LAKKI MARWAT: The Counter-Terrorism Department averted a tragedy by foiling a terror bid and arresting two suspected terrorists, including a suicide bomber, near Naurang town here on Friday.

An official source said the action was initiated on information about presence of miscreants and target killers in a rural locality.

A gang of miscreants led by target killers, Amjad Nawaz and Bakhtawar, had entered the district to carry out subversive acts, he claimed.

He said the terrorists were plotting to execute suicide attack in the area and that they had dumped a suicide vest, explosives and hand grenades in the rural locality.

The CTD commandos raided a hideout in Kotka Haidran area and arrested miscreants, including Sadiqullah and Naimatullah, hailing from North Waziristan Agency, he maintained, saying Sadiqullah was a suicide bomber and was brought to the district for carrying out terrorist act.

The official source said the kingpins of gang, Amjad Nawaz and Bakhtawar, had left the place before the personnel reached there.

He said the arrested terrorists belonged to banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, and that the law enforcers also seized four hand grenades and a suicide jacket from them. The arrested men were shifted to an undisclosed location after registration of case, he added.
