RAWALPINDI: The Uzbek government has called for expanding cooperation with Pakistan in various fields, including trade, connectivity, security and military.

A delegation, headed by Uzbek Secretary of Security Council Lt Gen Makhmudov Victor Vladimirovich, called on Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday at the General Headquarters.

According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interest, including regional security, came under discussion during the meeting. The Uzbek delegation acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s efforts for stability in the region and sacrifices made in the war against terrorism, added ISPR.

Gen Bajwa thanked the delegation for their sentiments and assured full cooperation and support from Pakistan in all initiatives aimed at improving regional cooperation, peace and stability.
