KARACHI: The hunger strike of the Sindh Action Committee (SAC) continued on Wednesday outside Nadra’s Centre in Defence against issuance of Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) to ‘aliens’.

The strike which started on Tuesday under Zain Shah of the Sindh United Party will go on till Thursday when the leaders will address a press conference and announce their future strategy.

SAC coordinator Idrees Chandio said over 400 activists of nationalist parties were participating in the strike.

“We are against issuance of CNICs to Bengalis, Burmese and Afghans,” he added. Mr Chandio further said the Nadra director general contacted SAC leaders on Tuesday night and invited them for talks in his office. “We are ready to talk but at our hunger strike camp.”

The coordinator was of the view that it was great injustice with Sindh that the ‘aliens’ were being registered there.

A press release issued by the SAC on Wednesday claimed that the citizenship of Pakistan was being “sold” by Nadra and federal and provincial governments were helping it.
