PESHAWAR: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar reached here on Wednesday evening for a two-day visit during which he will be heading a bench at the Supreme Court’s Peshawar registry to hear different cases apart from other engagements.

The chief justice will be having a meeting with the representatives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, Peshawar High Court Bar Association and other bar associations in the province on Thursday (today).

He is also scheduled to visit the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy on Thursday. His visit to the Charsadda Judicial Complex is also scheduled for Friday.

It is expected that the chief justice will also hear a case pertaining to provision of clean drinking water in the province.

While the other engagements of the chief justice have not been made public keeping in view his recent visits to government institutions, specially hospitals, in other provinces, it is expected that he might be visiting any government institutions here.

Because of his visit, staffers at different government bodies, especially hospitals, have been put on alert for the last many days. They have been taking extra care of day-to-day affairs, including sanitation condition. However, the ongoing Bus Rapid Transit project is a matter of concern for the government functionaries as presently work has been in progress on major arteries passing through the provincial capital.

Layers of dust envelope parts of Peshawar and if the chief justice takes notice of it, it will be difficult for the concerned officials to satisfy him about the project, especially its environmental impact.
