LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday arrested four former officials of the Saaf Pani Company in a scam.

Those arrested are former chief technical officers Dr Zahiruddin and Nasir Qadir Bhaddal, former procurement and contract specialist Muhammad Saleem Akhtar and former managing director Muhammad Masood Akhtar.

According to NAB, the suspects with mala fide intention managed to install 116 water filtration plants in Bahawalpur region on exorbitant rates.

“They allegedly made all units operational on higher rates compared to market cost thus causing a loss of millions of rupees to the national kitty,” it said.

The NAB will produce them before an accountability court on Wednesday (today) for their physical remand.
