BUNER: The two-day Urs celebrations of saint Hazrat Pir Baba concluded here on Sunday with prayers for progress, prosperity and peace in the region as well integrity and solidarity of the motherland.

Makhdoom Syed Hussain Shah, the successor to the saint, along with family members, local elders and large numbers of devotees, including women, participated in the celebrations.

A Naat Khwani and Qawali function was also held at the shrine.

On the occasion, the shrine of Pir Baba was illuminated with colourful lights.

The celebrations attract a large number of devotees from parts of the country every year, where ulema deliver speeches to the audience.

The devotees laid floral wreaths on the tomb of the Sufi saint. Food (lungar) was distributed among the guests.

Elaborate security measures were taken during the Urs celebrations. The district police officer, deputy commissioner, assistant commissioners, officials of police and intelligence agencies were also present on the occasion to ensure smooth passage of the celebrations.

Political and social figures, including Jehan Bar Khan, Haji Sadiqullah, Mamoonur Rasheed, Afsar Khan, Jowhar Ali Khan and Shahjehan Khan, participated in the festivities.
