The two others were wounded and taken into custody, the police added.

The senior officer claimed that “this gang of criminals was active in crimes in posh areas since last two months”.

The police claimed to have seized arms also from them.

The dead and the wounded were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the hospital, said that the condition of both the wounded suspects, identified as Wali Mohammed, 35, and Shakeel, 30, was critical as they sustained bullet wounds on their chest and abdomen.

The deceased suspect aged around 30 also received bullet wound on his chest, but his identity could not be ascertained immediately.
