6 of a tribe killed near Sukkur

SUKKUR, May 18: Six people belonging to the Lakhan tribe were gunned down and three others injured by Mahar tribesmen near Numaish More, in the jurisdiction of C-Area police station here on Wednesday morning. The Lakhan tribesmen, belonging to Jafferabad, were on their way to the Sessions Court, Sukkur, for hearing of a case. When they reached near Numaish More, armed gunmen belonging to Mahar tribe, sprayed bullets killing six of them and injuring three others.

They fled after committing the crime. The dead included, Ali Gohar S/o Mohammad Ismail, Khadim Hussain, son of Ali Gohar, Ali Mardan, son of Khan Mohammad, Ali Murad, son of Khan Mohammad, Jan Mohammad, son of Allan and Sodhal, son of Miandad.

The injured Akbar Ali, Asghar Ali and Ghulam Mustafa were shifted to the Civil Hospital, Sukkur. It may be recalled that Lakhan and Mahar tribesmen were dagger drawn over a piece of land and a fish farm since last many years in the kutcha area of Jaffarabab, near Sukkur.

The injured Akbar Ali Lakhan told newsmen in the hospital that five months ago Lakhan and Mahar tribes had clashed over a minor dispute of children and they took revenge by killing of our six persons and injured three.

He claimed that he had identified the assailants which included Hajan Mahar, Murtaza Mahar, Jalal Mahar, Shahzore Mahar and others.
