SANGHAR: Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is scheduled to arrive in Khipro on Saturday, March 31, to inaugurate Rs3 billion worth water supply scheme for Achhro Thar, benefitting about 40,000 souls in 85 villages of the desert region.

The scheme fetches water from Lower Nara Canal and brings it to Tarr Hashim via Jesro through 185 kilometre long pipelines and a network of reservoirs.

The desert area is rain dependent with water found at around 300 feet depth. Most water stored in rains in small ponds is consumed by humans as well as livestock throughout the year.

MNA Ms Shazia Atta Marri said the scheme would greatly benefit desert people and cater to all segments of population irrespective of the political affiliations.
