BADIN, May 18: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that silt clearance in 336 miles of canals in the province has proved beneficial for agriculture production in the province. He said 73,510 acres of barren land were made cultivable after the silt clearance of Sultani Wah.

Speaking at a gathering at Dehi, taluka Tando Bago, on Wednesday, the Sindh chief minister said that no silt clearance was carried out in the Sultani Wah for the last 15 years. He said an amount of Rs17 million was spent on the silt clearance from RD-170 to RD-158 of the wah.

He said that the PML would contest local bodies elections from the councillor level to nazims and asked people to vote for ‘honest’ persons.

He said that present government has people’s mandate and hoped that it would complete its tenure.

He said that strict action would be taken against water thieves. He hoped that the growers would soon witness a green revolution in the agricultural sector.

He said that work on development schemes was going on in each sector, especially in communication sector, and a network of road was being laid in the province.

He said that Badin-Hyderabad, Sujawal-Karachi, Badin-Khoski roads were example of quality roads.

The chief minister announced renovation of Ghulam Shah Ghazi Dargah and construction of Dei-Tando Bago road, upgradation of middle school Dei to high school and construction of offices of four union councils.
