ISLAMABAD: On the second day of the 19th Asian Team Squash championship in South Korea, Pakistan players won their matches convincingly in the both men’s and women’s events against Sri Lanka and Thailand, respectively.

In the men’s event, Tayyab Aslam defeated Sri Lanka’s Gihan Suwaris in straight games 11-12, 11-5, 11-5 while Amaad Fareed thrashed Ravindu Laksiri 12-10, 11-5, 11-5 and Asiam Khan outclassed his opponent Druvinka Perea 11-5, 11-6, 11-9.

In the women’s event, Madina Zafar faced tough resistance from Thailand’s Anatana Prasertratanakul, as both put up good show in four games.

However, Madina managed to tame her opponent by winning 11-04, 11-08, 7-11, 11-5.

In the second match, Faiza Zafar outclassed Tuddaw Thamronglarp in straight games 11-7, 11-1, 11-1 and Riffat Khan emerged victorious against Suvipa Kitvijam 11-2, 11-3, 11-7.

Pakistan’s men team has been placed in Pool ‘B’ alongside South Korea, Philippines and Sri Lanka, while in women event Pakistan is in Group ‘A’ with Hong Kong, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

Earlier on the first day, Pakistan thrashed the Philippines 3-0 in the men’s event but their women side suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka.
