Hard court tennis starts today

KARACHI, May 16: Seeding for the Greener Pakistan National hard court tennis championship which begins on Tuesday at the Karachi Gymkhana, was finalised. Aqeel Khan and Asim Shafiq were seeded No. 1 and 2.

In the boys under-17 events, Omer Baber is seeded at No.1 and Tanveer Ashiq from Lahore at No.2.

Sunny Williams is the top seed in the under 13 event with Zuhair Raza at No.2.

In the Ladies event, Sana Bhagat is top seeded. Sara Mehboob is not participating in this event as she has to be back in Islamabad for her school exams.

The total prize money is Rs1,50000, with the winner in the men’s singles event taking home a purse of Rs30,000 and the winner of the ladies event going back Rs10,000 richer.

The tournament is being sponsored by Subh-e-Nau under the auspices of the Sindh Tennis Association.
