FAISALABAD, May 15: Members of the local Darul Aman advisory council have expressed concern over ‘inadequate’ security arrangements at the institute. They have demanded that Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi should immediately deploy armed guards for the protection of the inmates.

Talking to journalists here on Sunday, MPA Khalida Mansoor, Razia Joseph, Naveeda Zia, Ghazal Rashid, Advocate Sakeena Chaudhry, Malik Rafique, and centre superintendent Tahira Afzal said 39 girls and 11 children had been living in the Darul Aman, but not a single guard was available for their protection.

They said no outsider was allowed to meet the inmates of the Darul Aman without having a court permit, but the incident of a woman’s murder by her brothers pointed to negligence.

They said the government officials had not taken any measure to provide security, at the centre.

They demanded that the government should deploy armed guards for the protection of the Darul Aman inmates.

It is pertinent to mention here that a woman was shot dead by her brothers four days ago as she had married against the wishes of her parents years ago.

KILLED: A woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband when she refused to go back with him at Chishtia Park on Sunday.

Reports said Shakeel Ahmad and his wife Sophia had developed differences after some months of marriage. The woman returned to her parents.

Shakeel visited his in-laws to take his wife back, but she refused. Shakeel shot her dead and fled.
