MANSEHRA: Former provincial minister Habibur Rehman Tanoli has called a jirga on Feb 11 to decide the future course of action over the exclusion of five union councils from his native constituency in Mansehra district, PK-32.

“Under the fresh delimitation, many union councils have been excluded from our constituency. They’ve been made part of another constituency in an unlawful manner,” he told reporters here on Thursday.

Mr Tanoli said a jirga of the people of PK-57, which had been changed to PK-32, would meet on next Sunday to decide the future course of action against the illegal constituency delimitation.

The government has included Darband, Dara Shynaya, Shergar, Karoro and Shungli Bandi union councils of PK-32 in the PK-33 constituency.

CONVENTION: The village, tehsil and district council members of various political parties have called a convention to evolve a joint strategy against the withholding of funds by the provincial government.

Accompanied by councillors, tehsil nazim Khurram Khan Swati, who belongs to the PML-N, told a news conference here on Thursday that the government had curtailed funds of the local bodies in the district by more than over 50 per cent during the last three years.

He said the members of local bodies had decided to hold a convention to evolve a joint strategy against the denial of funds by the provincial government.
