RAWALPINDI: The Excise and Taxation Department has installed four computerised kiosk machines in the Rawalpindi Division- in Rawalpindi, Taxila, Gujar Khan and Murree - in order to facilitate tax payers.

Talking to this agency, Excise and Taxation Officer Nauman Khan said the machines have been installed in order to facilitate citizens in vehicle verification, professional tax assessment, self assessment and the issuance of challans.

He said the Punjab government is taking steps to facilitate citizens and to minimise the interaction between taxpayers and officials of the Excise and Taxation Department. He said the department is also computerising the property tax records in 15 more districts in the province. Six districts have computerised records currently, he added.

Director Excise Rawalpindi Tanveer Abbasi Gondal said the department has decided to install machines at regional offices across Punjab.

Property tax challans are being issued with an exclusive pin code in areas where property tax records have been computerised. Tax payers can get a self-assessment receipt from the machine by using the pin code and submit it to the excise department. The machines are also being installed in 22 regional offices in the provinces including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Gakhar, Alipur, Chattha, Kamoke, Shujabad and others.
