ISLAMABAD: Students are facing accommodation problems in the twin cities due to the lack of hostels.

Educational institutions have shortage of accommodation and proper facilities for students belonging to other cities leaving them with no other option but rent rooms in private hostels.

Sohail Khan, a student, said unhygienic food was served at private hostels and there were no proper arrangements for keeping rooms and bathrooms clean.

He said the hostels charged extra for breakfast and laundry.

“Private hostels are out of reach of students as they are charging Rs7,000 to Rs10,000 for a single bed.”

Another student said students coming from other cities were facing problems as most of the colleges and universities in the twin cities were without hostels.

He also complained about the behaviour of owners of the hostels. He said there should be check on private hostels so that they can provide better facilities to the students.

He appealed to the authorities concerned to take steps for setting up new hostels.
