KARACHI: A part of a three-storey building near the Civil Hospital Karachi collapsed on Sunday, but no one was hurt in the incident, officials said.

They added that a few families were living in the colonial-era building, but the portion, which collapsed, had already been declared vulnerable and left abandoned a few months ago.

“It was around 10am when that vulnerable part of the building came to the ground with a bang,” said an official at the Risala police station, which supervised the rescue work and cordoned off the area while the municipality staff was busy removing the debris.

“A car was badly damaged in the incident which was parked on a service road and a big piece of concrete structure fell on the vehicle.”
