GUJRANWALA, May 13: The business community and income tax payers have urged the income tax department to clear their refund cases. At a meeting held here on Friday, participants said the income tax department imposed a ban on clearing their refund cases for showing its better performance.

They said the business community was facing severe financial problems owing to the non-clearance of refund cases. They demanded that the federal government and the CBR should not involve banks in clearing refund cases. When contacted, a senior income tax officer said the ban imposed from the current month would remain in force till June.
